Dulcidio De La Guardia, ex Minister of Economy and Finance, declares that he will continue to support the government of President Juan Carlos Varela and the MEF for the approval of the penalization of tax evasion by the National Assembly.

De La Guardia argues that it is of fundamental importance that the National Assembly approves the law n. 591 on the criminalization of tax fraud, whose debate on the project began on 26th April 2018 and agreed that an analysis is to be carried out with the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), so that the country does not fall into a discriminatory list of the Financial Action Group (Gafi).

If this initiative is approved, it will open the way to a modern financial system by creating a regulatory framework for Fintech activities (finances and technologies). These tools will allow the country to compete in the international market generating confidence to investors and users of the Panamanian system.
